New Owners, Same Ol’ Charm
SOUTH RIVER: Since 2010, La Tavola Cucina, located at 700 Old Bridge Turnpike, South River, New Jersey has served good, traditional Italian charm and cuisine to its patrons. This well-received Italian eatery has enjoyed a year-round following that its founders, the husband and wife team of Steve and Jill Sullivan, have built and nurtured with over 10 years of hard work, world-class recipes and impeccable hospitality.
According to Joseph Denker, of Bielat Santore & Company, Allenhurst, New Jersey, the agent involved in the sale, “this sale was an emotional decision for Steve and Jill, but after over 20 years in the restaurant business, 10 of those years at La Tavola Cucina, they felt it was time to move on to the next chapter.” The restaurant has been sold to another husband and wife team, Eddy and Mimi Nkwepo, who will both work closely with Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan to ensure that the clientele at the restaurant experience the same quality food and warm hospitality they have come to know and expect. Many loyal customers have already met the new owners and have taken kindly to them.
Eddy and Mimi have no immediate plans to change anything about the restaurant. The menu at La Tavola Cucina includes delicious Italian favorites created from scratch with fresh-from-the-market ingredients. Specialty appetizers are top of the menu, directly followed by a selection of steak, chicken, pasta, fish and more. In addition, many creative specials are presented with the menu each night. The new owners will supervise everything in the kitchen and in the dining room making sure each customer is treated like a guest in their home.
